Abstract

The central issue in this research is to measure and assess the effect of hybrid leadership in its six dimensions (transactional leadership, democratic leadership, authoritarian leadership, situational leadership, transformational leadership and permissive leadership) on improving strategic recovery in its three dimensions (entrenchment, return and deprivation). The research problem is the extent to which modern leadership styles can solve administrative and operational problems in the field and enable institutions to respond to emergencies. The study was carried out in private schools in Baghdad Governorate, where the research population comprised the teaching staff. 170 questionnaires were handed out and a random sample was picked. From these, 168 questionnaires were considered valid for the statistical analysis and they were the main instrument for the data collection. The data were processed and the hypotheses tested by advanced statistical software (SPSS v.26 and AMOS v.26), using descriptive indicators (arithmetic means and standard deviations), structural equation modelling (SEM), direct effects tests, and coefficients of determination. The results of the study showed that transformational leadership is the most important and influential predictor of strategic recovery followed by situational and transactional leadership. Authoritarian and permissive leadership, in contrast, have negative effects. In addition, the composite variable of hybrid leadership had a statistically significant overall synergistic effect that was greater than the summing effect of its constituent aspects. The main conclusion derived from these findings is to embrace a balanced hybrid leadership strategy, with an accent on the activation of transformational and situational approaches. This is accomplished by activating the continuous training programs for the development of the abilities of the teaching staff, effective follow-up mechanisms and lowering authoritarianism and administrative laxity in an effort to achieve the required institutional rehabilitation and adaptation.
